Key Year Group Information

PE

Our PE days are Thursday and Friday. Please ensure kits are kept in school as these days may change. Kits will be sent home at the end of a half term.

Homework

Homework is sent home on a Thursday and consists of a spelling/reading activity (spellings are not tested) and a Maths activity linked to the week's learning. Homework folders need to be returned by the following Thursday.

Key Stage 1 Statutory Assessments

In June, at the end of Year One, the children will take a Phonics Screening Check. The purpose of the phonics screening check is to confirm that all children have learned phonic decoding to an age appropriate standard. The phonics screening check contains 40 words divided into two sections of 20 words. Both sections contain a mixture of real words and pseudo-words. Pseudo-words are words that are phonetically decodable but are not actual words with an associated meaning. Results from this check will be reported to parents in the school end of year reports.
