Meet the Reception Team
- Reception Class is taught by Mrs Pickering Monday - Thursday
- Reception Class is taught by Miss Smyth on Friday
- Mrs Drake is our class teaching assistant supports our learning throughout the week.
- Mrs Hollindale and Miss Peachey also support our learning throughout the week.
Key Year Group Information
PE
Our PE day is a Tuesday. Please ensure that your child comes to school on this day in their PE kit. Trainers are preferred as plimsols are tricky for the children to wear all day in our provision, especially outdoors.
Homework
During the first 2 terms (Autumn and Spring) we ask that children focus on listening to stories at home with an adult. In the Summer term, the children will receive Homework that relates to their theme learning in class. This is to aid our children's transition into Year 1. It will be sent home on a Tuesday and will need to be returned for the following Monday.
Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA)
In Reception the children complete a Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA) on entry to their Reception year in school. This is a government requirement and all children will take part. If we don't feel it is suitable for your child, the class teacher will make contact with you. Further details can be found at this link Reception Baseline Assessment
What we will be learning
Autumn Term
Our Topics for the Autumn term are: Families and Houses and Homes. Have a look at our curriculum maps for what we will be learning. We will also visit the local library and take part in a nativity performance.
Spring Term
Our topics for the Spring term are: Journeys and Changing and Growing. Have a look at our curriculum maps for what we will be learning.
Summer Term
Our topics for the Summer term are: Fairytales and Toys. Have a look at our curriculum maps for what we will be learning. During the summer term we will go out of school on a trip. We will also take part in sports day and transition days.
